Less than a year ago my co-founder, Prateek, and I decided to set off on a new path to building Cargoflip. It's a great opportunity to reflect on where we are today and how far we've come, and where we're going next.
How we started, what are we building?
Prateek and I met at Entrepreneur First in Berlin (an amazing program, check them out). We both had spent the last few years working in and around startups, and seeing them grow into large successful businesses. Nothing can replace the experience of seeing your team of 5-10 people who you worked so hard with to build something great turn into teams of 100+. It's that experience and learnings that we reflect on when building Cargoflip.
Our goal with Cargoflip is simple. We want to be the tool every business thinks about when dealing with their international supply chain. Whether you are just starting out and getting ready to send your first package abroad, or are bringing in tens of shipping containers into the country every week, we want to help. After all, international logistics is where everything can move rather slowly one day, and the next day you are racing against the clock to get your shipment to arrive on-time. It's this complex system of coordination that we believe can be improved and made simpler with the right software.
Closing our new round of funding...
After finishing Entrepreneur First, we became the lucky few to make it to Demo Day and raise our pre-seed funding with EF. And that's when things began to change...
Our Demo Day turned virtual, our meetings, more and more on Zoom. Like everyone else, we had a pandemic to deal with. No matter, if there's one thing startups do, it's adapt, right?
After countless meetings with investors all around the world and many sleepless nights, we had our next milestone in sight.
We are really happy to finally announce that over the past few months we have completed our next round of funding and are working together with our amazing new investors, Seedcamp and Underscore VC. They have been a tremendous help in opening new doors on our journey. They also fit perfectly in our vision of a global company. We're HQ'd in my hometown, Toronto 🇨🇦, Seedcamp in London, and Underscore in Boston.
Be sure to check out our recent Q&A with Seedcamp here.
Where we're headed?
The product already solves some of the major pain points our customers face. Dealing with complex workflows on documents and collaborating effectively with external partners to save time and reduce costly mistakes.
We're currently onboarding new customers for exclusive access to our product, complete with full-time dedicated support for any questions your business may have. Interested? We'd love to chat! Drop us a message.
Overall, we're in a good spot. We're backed by fantastic investors, our product is getting better every day, and of course, we're hiring!
